MIMO Methods (Multi-antenna reception and transmission)

Theme Urgency

1. At present the direction of researching transmission-reception algorithms in systems with multiple transmitting and receiving antennas (MIMO) is one of the most promising for telecommunications. All leading telecommunication companies are intensively developing commercial MIMO algorithms.

2. Now transmit diversity algorithms both with open and close loop are worked out well for commercial use. However, the transmit diversity algorithms do not allow implementing the potential of the high capacity of MIMO channel.

3. Namely among MIMO methods the methods with open loop such as BLAST (in different modifications) and space-time trellis coding (STTC) are suitable for utilization. These methods provide a high capacity and have the reasonable implementation complexity. MIMO methods with close loop, i.e. that use the information about MIMO channel at the transmitting side, potentially posses the highest capacity amongst MIMO methods, but at present they are far from practical implementation.

Work Experience

1. Researches and development in the field of MIMO and transmit diversity methods have been performing for more than 5 years.

2. During this time all main known MIMO and transmit diversity methods are systematized and studied. They are thoroughly researched including a theoretical analysis and computer simulation as well. Moreover the analysis is performed as applied to modern telecommunication standards and known models of MIMO channel.

3. Thorough researches are carried our in such adjacent fields as communication channel estimation methods, modulation and coding methods, MIMO channel modes. In the denoted fields the unique results are obtained.

4. New MIMO and transmit diversity algorithms are developed and also some known methods are enhanced. The proposed algorithms posses a higher capacity than known algorithms having a reasonable implementation complexity.

5. Within the scope of this direction of researches there are published more than 10 scientific papers. More than 5 patents for inventions are obtained. Acquired unique results are highly appreciated by specialists at scientific conferences.
